Hi all.. I'm a total newby on here, so please bear with me..

After reading about the benefits of learning Latin, I'd like to get some 'taster' tuition for my daughter at a reasonable rate in the Durham... Could anyone point me in the right diirection?

Cheers
Darren

I'd suggest not looking for any kind of formal tutoring for a 6 year old. Instead, if you are interested in her beginning to learn a new language (and there are huge benefits to being bi or multi lingual and children do absorb new languages quickly) then look for a bilingual after school or summer school program she can join. Look for one where she will be in group settings with other children so she can practice conversations in a natural way through play activities rather than formal tuition settings which are not the best way for children to learn language at this age. Try your local library or ask her primary school if they can recommend any good programs, but go along for tasters before signing her into anything.

You could work thru the Minimus books together. No need for a tutor.

Try the Classics Dept at the university? I'm sure there's a lovely (and cheap) student who'd be happy to work through a basic introductory book with your DD.
