Don 't scold me. Please just help :)

In the following sentence, is 'summer' a noun or am adjective:

There are scented summer nights when the owls hunt together.

Adjective - because it describes the noun (night).

I'd say that "nights" is a noun and summer is an adjective qualifying what kind of nights they are. If it were at secondary level then it might be something more sophisticated (and beyond me) but for a primary homework I assume it's just that simple.

'summer' is an adjective describing nights.

'scented summer nights' is a noun phrase.

The Year 6 Spag test always does this - the question says 'underline the noun' and then in the sentence you have 'the orange boat' and the children have to spot that orange is not a noun in this context.
