If you have DC at either of the above please take a minute and tell me about what the kids and parents are like at either school and the general feel/ clubs.....

My DS has been accepted at Highgate Primary but I'm wondering as to whether to hold out on the waiting list for St. michaels.....

Any comments or opinions would be much appreciated :)

I know them both as highly rated schools.

One is a community school, one is C of E.

Is religion an issue for you, "either way" that would decide it for you.

Not had a dc at either, though we are quite local. I've seen a lot ofo Highgate/Blanche Neville puipls though an activitiy my yougnest dc does, and I really like the vibe at Highgate 0very mixed, very cheery and open, no school uniform (yay!).

St Micheals seems to have a much higher proprtion of parents who send their kids there because st m is nearly a prep school in terms fo intake and attitude. A lot of dc go on to private for secondary. Most people who wanted St M's and dont get it wll go private instead, rather than to what they veiew as 'sink schools' (which probalby includes the Ofsted Oustsnding school that my kids go to.

I guesse everyone makes their choices according to the thik s that are important to them.but unless you really need your childto be surrounded by other mc/ amilies doing very simliar things to you, then Highgate is fine, and sounds like it might well be more fun.

again, no direct experience at either, but a friend taught at Highgate (now no longer there) but was really enthusiastic about the head and the teaching. They are very different schools in character - with Highgate much more laid back atmosphere so its also a matter of taste
