Hi

So my little boy starts primary school in September and I want to be more clued up. Until now it has been all about speech due to hearing loss. So when they start primary am I right that they are still EYS? We are in England.

Yes EYFS covers birth to the end of reception year.

However, in a lot of conversations involving 5-11 primary schools, KS1 and KS2 are used to mean infants (YR-Y2) and juniors (Y3-Y6), even though it is strictly speaking wrong.

Key Stage 1 is Y1 & 2 it does NOT include reception that is the legal position

I know that, but most mums of older DCs don't and given the cimpertition over reading etc. I'm nit convinced many of todays reception mum's really get that receotion is an extension of nursery and DCs should still be learning through play.

Looking at the press Gove etc. Clearly forget Angry

Sorry, kindle auto correct is really bossy, but turning it off isn't a good idea either.

Sorry but I don't see how it helps correct that misunderstanding to repeat it. Confused

In our school YR is very much still EYFS. They share outdoor space with the nursery children and access the same toys, have carpet time etc. It is a different environment in KS1 - more table based.
