Headteacher told my husband off during parents evening

She interrupted the meeting he was having with my daughter's teacher and complained because his wife hadn't booked a meeting for parents night. The school called me and I told them I couldn't come in that week, but would if they had a concern. They said no concern.

My husband then booked a meeting because we thought it odd, and then a very negative experience.

Is this normal?

Perhaps you could have returned the slip saying that you weren't planning to attend. The school would not then have to waste time ringing you up to check.

It's a common courtesy to respond surely.

I love to get my daughters teachhers time and have informal chats after drop-off.
This must be very different from my school. Teachers have time for a quick "whoops I forgot his PE kit", or "He didn't sleep well and I think he may be coming down with something", from all parents. But other than that we are supervising and registering the class or teaching. Maybe if start of day is when you are trying to do all your progress meetings the school does feel you need to make appointments rather than drop off?

Maybe she thought he hadn't booked an appointment?
