Tutoring

I am wondering if teachers are allowed to tutor children who attend the school that they teach at? We are thinking of getting a tutor for dd and her teacher last year was amazing. I wouldn't like to ask if it would be prohibited.

In my dd's school I know there are teachers who tutor their school pupils after school finishes. They even tutor some kids during lunch hours say half an hour each time may be twice a week. Parents pay for the one to one tuitions. Good school!! High level achieving school!!!

DDs HT gave one of her DFs maths tutoring after school.

Very successfully I believe as she was very shy and went on to senior school with a deal more confidence in her abilities.

DDs class had some very able and very confident characters, time doing stuff away from them was an enormous help.

I would say it's ok if not their form tutor. I guess if they were tutored by their form tutor there would be a conflict of interest as the parents would not want to keep paying the tutor if the child didn't show an adequate rate of progression at school - and so the teacher could be tempted to show a greater level of improvement to keep the tutoring!
