Where can I get a decent school coat for DD?

Why are coats for girls so much thinner and nastier than coats for boys? Why is fake fur compulsory? Or, to be more specific, can anyone help me find a warm navy school coat for DD that doesn't have a fur-trimmed hood?

slight hijack .. do all of your dcs have a school coat and a home coat? Ds is only just starting school and had never considered the idea of having to have 2!

One coat for all!

Nice ski jacket in blues for ds1 plus a raincoat packa mac thing for warm but wet days.

Same for ds2.

Marks & Sparks had some nice black hooded woolen coats when I looked a month or so ago, I think there was a velvet ribbon trim inside, they looked smart but not too plain. Luckily dd's last winter coat still fits well, so we didn't need to get a new one. She has a 'clean' (at least theoretically) coat and a 'dirty' (tree-climbing/dog-cuddling/mud-central) coat, rather than school and home coats.
