Breakfast Club Prices

Our school Breakfast Club is £2 per child for 25 minutes without breakfast, £4 for 45 minutes with breakfast. I reckon that's a bit steep - it restricts prospective working times and currently have to use sparingly - so I'm thinking about having a word. If you have a mo, please could you let me know what your school charges, the duration and whether you get breakfast included. Thanks

Re:having a word. Are you thinking if volunteering your time for free to help reduce the cost for parents?

The point is, they make money from it, cover costs several times over. I already volunteer at school and did three years on pre- school committee. And it's for all parents, particularly those on low incomes I'm concerned about, not just myself!

Ours is £3.50 for 55 minutes (opens at 8 and school starts at 8:55) including breakfast. Although mine tend to eat at home first so they have longer to play.

Ours is free. Starts at 8.15am and includes breakfast.

Used to be 50p and started at 8.

I am in Wales though so think its part of some govt scheme.

Interesting that I posted the same message on netmums and got polite replies. On mumsnet I get aggressive messages asking if I think wages should be cut etc! Our school is a state school in a relatively affluent area but at least half the parents cannot afford the child care the school offers as it is provided at a premium, higher than over local providers and it makes a big profit! I just wanted to compare other breakfast club prices. I very much doubt our prices will change but I thought I'd speak to the head on behalf of parents because if he doesn't know it's an issue, he wouldn't necessarily think to review it.

£2.50 for the first child, £2 for the second, maybe £1.50 for third (?) but that doesn't apply to me. 45 mins with breakfast.

Ours is £4 for 50 minutes and includes breakfast. Previous school was 50p including breakfast, but was heavily subsidised by the school / council. I think schools should charge the actual cost and not be subsidised by the council or using money from school funds which could be better used elsewhere. It's a childcare facility and the prices seem about right.

Probably because netmums is overly moderated and so everybody toes the line and behaves like the world is full of sparkles and fairy dust due to fear of the mods. Best to stay over there if you want a facade rather than honest responses.

I find it interesting that you have two threads here, with replies from many people taking the time to respond to you. Then you throw in our faces that the replies you have at netmums are nicer.

I think that is rude and uncalled for.

opens from 7 am, it is £6.00 for breakfast and walk across road to school. Alternatively 830am no breakfast £2.00 just for school drop off at 9am

Joser, what do other local providers charge then? Around here childminders cost £5+ an hour excluding food and a CM is the only alternative to pre-school club. If you can get a CM for less than £4 to do it and provide breakfast then go for that!

£7 opens at 7.30. School starts at 8.50. Same price whether you have breakfast or not.

1.25 for an hour with beeakfast. If you use it all 5 days and pay at the start of the week you only pay 5 pounds for the whole week.

I have re read this thread and cannot see the "aggressive messages". Everyone has given factual ones stating how much it costs at their schools Confused.

2.50 it opens at 8 school starts at nine.

This includes a huge if not particularly healthy breakfast. my dds normally have chocolate cereal, waffles and chocolate spread and toast.

Ours is £4.75 for an hour. I do think it's quite a lot actually , especially if you have more than one child. It's a 7.50 am drop off though which is helpful.
