Breakfast Club Prices

joserj · 07/03/2014 22:54

To any parents who might read this, our school Breakfast Club is £2 per child for 25 minutes without breakfast, £4 for 45 minutes with breakfast. I reckon that's a bit steep - it restricts prospective working times and currently have to use sparingly - so I'm thinking about having a word. If you have a mo, please could you let me know what your school charges, the duration and whether you get breakfast included. Thanks

Ours is £3 from 8-8.45 without breakfast, or £1 to drop off after 8.30.

bloated1977 · 08/03/2014 18:02

1 hour £1.20 with breakfast

Olivermoliver · 08/03/2014 18:18

Now I always knew ours was expensive but didn't realise by how much! Luckily I don't need it every day!

HappyMummyOfOne · 08/03/2014 21:58

£3 for the hour its open including breakfast.

There have to be two staff in case one needs to deal with emergencies and its not just the cost of the staff and food. They have to pay rental of the hall as its a private club on school premises.

negrilbaby · 08/03/2014 22:18

Ours is run by the on-site private day nursery (they also provide after school care until 6p.m.)
They charge £5 per session (open 7:30 - 8:45) with a 10% discount for siblings. This includes breakfast. They are very well staffed - at least 3 adults in the room at any time.

BloominNora · 08/03/2014 22:22

Ours is £3.75 a day, open from 7:30 with a good variety of options for breakfast. Very well staffed. We also have excellent wrap-around care for nursery aged kids and an after school club.

Pooka · 08/03/2014 22:23

£4 a session, from 7.50 to 8.50am.

Pooka · 08/03/2014 22:24

No breakfast provided.

MerylStrop · 08/03/2014 22:26

£3 from 7.30 - 8.50 including breakfast (cereal, toast, juice)

I shall appreciate what good value it is from now on

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 08/03/2014 22:33

£5.60 if you are a regular includes cereal, fruit and toast. 7:50 - 8:55. London suburbs. It is run by a social enterprise. Always at least 2 or more staff.

It isn't used by that many children c40 out of 650 but there seems to be a high % of parents around here who are able to do drop and collects themselves.

CockBollocks · 08/03/2014 22:35

£5.50 for 45 mins, Inc breakfast.

Buggedoff · 09/03/2014 08:37

£7 from 7.15 am, £6 from 7.30, and I think £5 from 8 am. I normally drop at 7.25 and have to pay full price, but it's better than being late for uni. They get breakfast and a minibus to school (it's at a different school). I recently discovered that there's another breakfast club that starts at 7.30 and drops to our school that is £4. But dd doesn't want to go

I only need it twice a week, and luckily there's no contract, unlike at after school club, when I have to book in every day because my timetable changes, but only use it 3 days a week.

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/03/2014 10:00

7.50am till school starts. I pay £6 and breakfast is provided.

ImATotJeSuisUneTot · 09/03/2014 10:09

For DD1, it's £3.20 7.30-8.45am, including breakfast.

Where I work, inner city, top 3 deprived area type poverty, it's free - we'll take students up to 90mins before school starts and can offer cereal, toast, crumpets, juice and fruit.

MojitoMomonga · 09/03/2014 10:34

Free except whatever they eat. Toast is 20p a slice.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/03/2014 11:12

Ours is £2, breakfast included. From 8am. We are in the north though! If they charged £4 people would laugh! Smile

Bumpsadaisie · 09/03/2014 11:14

Goodness ours seems very cheap at £2, having seen the rest of the thread. They get an hour's care and a HUGE breakfast, often boiled eggs etc.

vindscreenviper · 09/03/2014 11:26

My DCs are at seperate Infant & Junior schools, both charge £1 and serve cereal, fruit, toast and milk or water. FSM children don't pay for breakfast or teatime club (3-4pm + snack) at the infants.

bazingasheldon · 09/03/2014 11:30

Free (Wales)

northender · 09/03/2014 11:37

4.75 for 0730-0900 inc breakfast, 4 if you don't have breakfast

clara10 · 09/03/2014 20:56

£5. 8am 'til school, inc breakfast.

neepsandtatties · 10/03/2014 09:02

2.75 for 50 minutes incl. hot food (7.40 til playground opens at 8.30)

In the south east commuter belt so incredibly good value I think (although ours is subsidised by the pupil premium, all pupil premium children get breakfast club every day for free)

LondonSuperTrooper · 10/03/2014 11:18

Goodness, I can't believe how expensive our Breakfast Club is!! I'm based in Surrey which seems to be an invitation to push up the price for everything :(

ChocolateWombat · 10/03/2014 11:43

London, probably just not subsidised, but probably not making money either. If your area is relatively affluent, the school probably decide their funding is better used for books, teachers etc, than subsidising food and care, if the majority can afford it. Tricky if you are one who find paying difficult, but these decisions are made based on the broader profile of the school.

katalex · 10/03/2014 12:21

Ours is £1.50 per day from 8am for 30 minutes whether they have breakfast or not. It is run by the FLO who has to be on the playground in the morning so the kids get sent out to the playground at 8:30. There are rarely more than 6 kids there each morning. There was a time when my 2 DC were the only ones there and I worried they would close it. My DC tell me the only food available is sugary/chocolaty cereals and milkshakes but fortunately they prefer to eat at home Smile
