The kings at Macclesfield or the Ryleys??

My son is offered a place at both in year1 from Easter as we are a relocation case from Kent. I know kings goes till 18 n ryleys is just prep but I'm too confused between these 2 schools for my son.

Any suggestion will be a great help in making our decision. Just to let you know that my DD has accepted a place in AESG as she was costumed to all girls throughout. I know ideally it should be ryleys as it is just next door but I want the decision based on different factors as well like education, environment support extra curricular etc... Also is it better to choose prep or the school which goes upto 19? Please comment.. Thanks!

Kings don't guarantee you can go all the way through. If you don't pass the 7 plus or 11 plus the child is asked to leave

Personally I prefer the sound of Ryleys (I visited briefly in business & it seemed a nice place).

I just don't get a good vibe with Kings.

So Ryleys it is then ?? May be it is all about the vibes which is why we are very unsettled with Kings. But I heard its too flashy in Ryleys is it true ?

My kids go to Kings juniors and absolutely love it. I feel it is a very vibrant school with loads going on - something for every sort of child. Music and sport is great and academically the children are pushed. I would really recommend it!
The admission for the senior school are changing and for next year it is automatic entry from junior school ( those children who would struggle will be advised before year 5 and extra help given).
My children had been to two schools previous to Kings and we all find Kings a fantastic school and heads and shoulders above the others!
Ryleys would also be convenient for us bit I just found it too WAGs and Cheshire set, but having said that it appears to be an all round school.
Hope this helps!

Ryleys will probably give you access to a wider range of senior schools - no vested interest in keeping you there.

It's a really nice school, very much a community. The fairs and events are always good too, and you get to know people very well. There's plenty of extra-curricular sport, speech and drama (you can do speech festivals etc.) and the music's very good too.

(Random bit of trivia alert: did you watch the BBC show I'd Do Anything? One of the boys on that was from Ryleys, he was actually chosen to play Oliver and they took his whole class down to the West End to see him perform Smile)

Kings is a nice school, but it isn't a 'prep' in the same way. Having two in Alderley would be the biggest selling point for me though! It depends where you live, but driving to Macc on wintry mornings isn't particularly fun.

Another piece of rsnd

Another piece of random trivia

It was Cheshire Local Authority who refused to licence him to appear live on I'd Do Anything after 7pm hence the whole thing with the boys had to be pre recorded. The BBC wanted for it to be live originally.

also factor in the commute between the two areas i expect both have a similar start time, i know from experience moving 100m at that time in alderley can easily take ten mins!!
there are 3 schools extremely close together

Or SGS?

I have two DDs at King's and I'm delighted it with it, plus they love it too. I'd reiterate everything dottydoolittle says - lots going all, a lovely happy feel and the staff are great. My DDs are involved in choir, hockey, netball, cookery club, art club, swimming, cross-country plus the broad curriculum.
