DD is in Y3 and is having QCA test this week. Talked to some mums and have no idea what it is abbrev for. Does anyone know it? Is it a standard test for KS2 students?

also, DD got 4c for her reading QCA test. what's that 4c level? Does that mean she has got Y4 level? if so, it will surprise me.

Thanks.

QCA (Qualifictions and curriculum authority) is the body which oversees the standards of public exams, and in your case I think the National Curriculum tests or SATs, which are taken at the end of every key stage.

I thin your DD must have received the result of her end of KS1 test, or had a practice at a KS2 test, which takes place in year Y6.

Level 4C is a National Curriculum level - this explains what it means, i.e. what she can do.

L4C is very good for Y3 Smile

QCA produced SATs style tests for each year group from y3-y5 to give the children experience of doing that style of test. The idea was that then y6 SATs wouldn't be such a shock, and it would also give standardised levels for the children in each junior year.

These are often called QCA tests. There haven't been any new ones produced for a fair number of years though.

4c is a very good result for Y3, but in the reading test I often ended up with 4 or 5 at 4c in Y3 - however often far lower in both writing and maths.
