How far do you work from the school?

Hi All,

Just wondering how far you would work from the school, I am looking at working about half an hour away and feel really uneasy about it.

DH is also about half an hour away, parents live about 10 minutes from school but are in not great health so would only ask in an emergency but wouldn't want to lumber them with a sick child.

DC's are in year 2 and if anything happens at school, accident, sickness etc it would take me a good half an hour at best to get to them.

Am I being silly and do any of you work a lot further away?

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences?

Thank you

OH is 35 mins away and I could be working at home or on site visits up to 2 hours away. In 4 years I have only had one 'emergency' call which was a bead up a nose.. Luckily I was local, so I dealt with it then returned up work! Loads of the working parents at our school are over an hour away

I'm about 30 minutes away although if I'm at another office it can be over an hour.

But when DS first went to nursery, both DH and I were at least an hour anyway. And yes, we'd get phone calls to come and get him, and by the time we'd faffed around waiting for trains it was often an hour and a half before we could get there. He seems to have survived without being too scarred by the whole thing - school/nursery staff can look after him pretty well until we get there on the rare occasion we do have to collect him.
