Primary and prep schools in Blackheath / Greenwich / Eltham area

Hey all,

I've been searching through feeds but can't find any recent ones (less than 3years old) about schools in the Blackheath area. Schooling just seems to be a constant worry of mine!

We're having the debate around state or private and either way our preferred at the moment would be All Saints on the heath or Blackheath prep. Re All Saints we are regular church goers so there's no issue there but even so I wondered if anyone knew how many practising Christians apply / get in? Also, what standard is the school now? Is it still highly rated? We'd prefer state schools due to cost and live more Kidbrooke side of Blackheath so if there are any recommendations for schools in Kidbrooke or Eltham they would be gratefully received!

I also wondered whether anyone had thoughts on Brooklands (are the boundaries measured as crow flies?), Colfes, St Olaves or Blackheath High?

Sorry for being so generic but I feel quite lost as not long moved to the area and there seems to be so much talk amongst friends already who have decided and are on waitlists. My daughter is 18m old.

Thanks!

Blackheath High was fantastic when my DD was there (she's now 14 and we moved areas). I also had a friend with a DC at Colfe's and they rated it.

St Olaves in New Eltham is a wonderful school. My daughter attends and the teachers are wonderful - going out of their way to make sure that every child reaches their potential. And the results in the selective school exams this year were outstanding too. Lovely little school!

My DD is also at BHS and is loving it there. Lots of the girls appear to have older brothers at All Saints and some have siblings at John Ball. Presumably if places become available for them, they will transfer across to the state schools.
We also applied late for BHS as did friends (a whole year later) and both children were comfortably accommodated. There are three intakes at nursery level, morning, all day and afternoon and I think the wait list while it is lengthy is culled very quickly when people have to put a £1000 deposit down so I wouldn't worry too much about this.
I did see comments about Brooklands on this site a couple of years back but it is worth visiting the school and getting up to date reports. If memory serves, it had a good reputation and then went through the doldrums for a bit.
