I went to Thomas Arnold! Isn't it there anymore?

salondon · 30/12/2013 17:56

There are about 35 schools in all. I just posted a few near our area.

Manor Infants (longbridge) is meant to be good.
Also St Margaret's if you were interested in faith school. What are you being swayed towards?
My son is due to start December !

DownstairsMixUp · 30/12/2013 18:17

Are you interested in any faith schools? I went to St Teresa's (many years ago) but ofsted reports say it's still a very good school. Thomas Arnold is still there!

LoreleisSecret · 30/12/2013 18:22

September not December.
I clearly still have Christmas brain!!!! Smile

My child has special education needs. So I am trying to find a school which will let us continue our current therapy in reception.

We can't go to faith schools because we aren't Catholics.

Salondon the schools listed are spread over a wide area. For instance Becontree is a bit far from marks gate. I know Becontree is good. Furze infants is rated poorly by ofsted but it's a feeder to warren junior which is outstanding.

DownstairsMixUp · 31/12/2013 08:57

How about Monteagle? It was ok when I lived in B&D, so could either have got better or worse. There was a school called Trinity in the Heathway but not sure what special needs it covers, worth looking up both of those though to. Easily accesible schools.

salondon · 31/12/2013 10:39

Yes Silver, we are in the middle of that area...

Downstairs - We are hoping to educate her in mainstream with a 1:1 support.. but we dont know which school is a really open school to SEN kids..

In your position I would recommend Valence or Grafton. No comment about South wood, Marks Gate and Furze

salondon · 31/12/2013 11:17

Thanks Lotta!

Has anyone got any first hand experience of Village infants?

I agree about Valence, very good school. I would also visit Manor, the Longbridge site has a special unit for SEN children (check their website, there is some info on there).

LoreleisSecret · 01/01/2014 03:37

Nice to hear of so many people in the same area as me. I did a tour of Manor (long bridge) and was very impressed with it.

salondon · 02/01/2014 14:16

Thanks again. I have seen Trinity, Furze, Marks Gate, Manor & Village. I called Valence today.

Since we are trying to so mainstream with our private therapists, we need a school that will be open to 'new' ideas and not stuck on the "our/borough's way or the highway" approach. KWIM?

Blue, Lorele - If you guys are nearby me, worht having a chat - let me know if you are up for it and I wil PM you my postcode.

Definitely up for it. Will Pm you now Smile

Bluewednesday · 04/01/2014 09:58

Yes, no problem. I will try to send you PM if I find out how to do it.

Furze infant school is worst school in Barking and Dagenham very poor management and racist staff.
