Lycee Wix-French Stream v. Eveline Day School

My Family and I are moving to the Clapham area from the US. Our daughter has been attending the Lycee in the US for the past two yrs. She speaks French, some English and Spanish.
We have the option of going with the Wix-French stream or the very nurturing private Eveline Day school near Blaham. She is four years old, so she would enter MS or Reception-mid-year.
Does anyone have experience or knowledge of these schools? We want a smooth tranisition for her and a place where she can gain some confidence.

Do you know exactly where you're going to be living? Are you absolutely sure that it would guarantee a place at Wix? A friend lives literally down the road (think 100m or so); they moved there specially to get into the French stream, and they didn't get a place for their DD in Reception (last year - she's now Year 1).

Hi Wigeon, yes she has already been accepted to Wix...just need to give deposit and process paperwork.

If you have a Wix Lycee offer, bite their arm off for it.

Unless something goes horribly wrong, you progress seamlessly from there to Lycee Charles de Gaulle and you're spared the school transfer angst later on.

I've heard that it (like the shoe Fench system) suits the calm and studious rather than the boisterous, but if DD is already settled in that system it makes a great deal of sense to continue.

Thanks for the advice. My concerns are that it may be a cold and stringent environment for her. Also, read the Ofsted report from 09' and was'nt impressed. Don't know if it has improved by now. It would only be for a couple of years since we are on contract. Have you heard anything about the Eveline School, it seems so loving and focused on arts.

My parents moved around a lot when I was a child (now I'm 40s so a long time ago). Keeping me in the Lycée system whichever country we were in maintained a lot of consistency for me.

My kid goes to Eveline Nursery on Trinity Crescent. When DD joined, it was very good. However in the last 4-6 months, their standards have come done.
Lot of staff changes. Cleanliness has come down. My DD's face is always messy when I pick her up (She is not like that when I drop her off!) And when I asked once for a wet wipe, her carer simply used an old filthy cloth to wipe her face! I was taken back. If that is done in a parent's presence, I can only imagine what is done behind!

Plus, they are more expensive than a lot of nurseries around. AND you have to supply the nappies.

It is sad for a nursery with 50 years behind it to drop in standards. I loved it when I enrolled her two years ago. It is only in the last 4-6 months that they're going downhill.

I have applied to put my child else where... currently on waiting list. Can;t wait to get my lil one out of Eveline!
