Hi there, im quite concerned my son should be getting more help in school, He will be 9 March, He has Dyspraxia , Dyslexia , learning difficulties across the board, also hypermobility in his fingers, Currently in year 4 he isn't getting any extra additional help this year , up untill last year he was going out in small groups for half an hour every morning for RM Maths, Toe by Toe, Memory booster, & project X . these are his latest stat grades

Oracy 1b,
Reading 2b
Writting 2c

Maths,
Using and applying 2c
Number & Algebra 2c
Shape , space, measure & data 2c

Science,
Planning & Developing 2c
Evaluating & reflecting 1a

Im worrying Should i be asking for more help for him?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, and no. It depends on progress. The level 1s are worrying, but on the other grades he could be a level 2a/3c by the end of the year, or early in year 5. If he can make good progress, he could be level 4 or a high 3 by the end of year 6. This, given what you say about him, would be good progress and reasonable.

I would therefore try and evaluate his rate of progress over the last couple of years and see if high level 3 or a 4 is a possibility. 2/3 of a grade a year is good progress. Talk to his teacher. It may also be that they have other children who are receiving help, so if he has made good progress, it could be that his needs can be met in the classroom without being taken out. I am assuming he does not have a statement expressing time out of the classroom. Does the class have a TA who can help without the need to withdraw children? This can be equally as effective. Have you seen the SENCO to talk about how the school will meet his needs and you can ask why the teaching programme has changed at that meeting. You say he has learning difficulties, but have you and the school agreed a learning strategy for him? These grades are not good but not disastrous either, if you exclude the 1 grades.

Hi Milly thank's for replying , no he hasn't got a statement, there is a TA for an hour in the mornings in the class for everyone, he is on School action plus, and he has an IEP in place, it was just a big step getting that help then nothing at all, i do have meeting's with the senco, she did say that they recommend having a year out, but i don't see how that could help in anyway but delay him, i ask on a weekly basis how hes getting on to his teacher , i just worry he will get to year 6 and he is really struggling , i guess im just over thinking ,
