My son 5.11, year 1 is reading th Oxford Reading Tree books. Can anyone recommend some other books we could read at home that may be more interesting but won't be too difficult. My son is currently reading level/stage 6 in the ORT series.

We love Usborne First Reader and Young Reader Series. There are various levels in each series. Some come with a CD which reads the text and the child can read alongside.

They have pictures on each page but start having chapters as well, making it a bit more interesting and a step away from the picture books.

These are mainly classical fairy tales, adventure stories or legends from different countries.

If he is into factual books, Usborne Beginners is good as well.

usborne are great, there are also loads of picture story books that you have at home already I expect which he should be able to start reading himself, he just won't realise it yet.

I'd just go to the local library and see what they have that interests him? DS is the same age and he's reading Fantastic Mr Fox at the moment, although I don't know how that compares to ORT stages.
