Chinthurst School - Tadworth

Hi all - I am looking to move my children into the private sector - I have two boys, one currently in Y1 and one due to start school Sept 2014.

Since I am doing this quite late, Chinthurst School in Tadworth is the only school in the area that currently have vacancies for both - the only other route is to move one into a private school and sit patiently for a place for the other (most waiting list for my 3 year old are huge).

I am booked to look at Chinthurst in the new year but wanted some first hand opinions about the school. In addition the one thing that concerned me was why did it have so many vacancies? If anyone can help it would be much appreciated

I know its truth, but I still don't understand what you have to gain...what school are you in? why are you so bothered??

Jon Albert is a great guy. My son had a lot of respect for him. Jon had been at Chints for 11 years and was made an offer by another school that was too good to turn down. You need every penny you can get with 3 children, afterall. His replacement is fab too though. He's a great asset to Chints - very likeable, talented and dedicated, just like the rest of the staff.

Chinthurst will continue to thrive irrespective of outsider meddlings. Chattyone has slanderous intentions, circulating heresay and inane assumptions. When presented with a sense of anonymity, rumour spreading increases in both bravado and scale as it presents a coward with a wall to hide behind. Think on your sins, no one is ever truly anonymous

Hoppy70 · 04/03/2014 15:28

I was really sad to see all these malicious postings from CHATTYONE not just on this thread but also on other threads related to Chinthurst. My son has been at Chinthurst for the last six years. He absolutely loves it. The teachers are fantastic and so passionate about the children and getting the best out of them. I would highly recommend this school to anyone looking. Furthermore, there have been children joining Chinthurst from other local prep schools of late. I know for sure that my son will look back on his time at Chint with very happy and fond memories of his time at school.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone have any more recent views on Chinthurst. I'm asking for a friend with a girl and a boy who is moving to the area. Many thanks!

I have two children at Chinthurst. It is a small school, which I love because it really helps with confidence building and I feel very involved in their education. The teachers are so passionate and dedicated. It's a very strong sporting school but for all rather than just the good ones, my son was never one to kick a football about in the garden but with all the coaching and encouragement at the school he now loves rugby, football, cricket, swimming, you name it! I would recommend that your friend takes a look for herself. It's unique in the local area in terms of what it offers and it's hard to convey the spirit of a school on the internet!

Sounds lovely! I will pass on your words. I teach in a prep school which sounds similar. Looking at their website, there is an acting Head. Do you know when a permanent one is starting?

jrsmum3 · 18/05/2015 20:44

The acting head is Mr Button who has been the Deputy for many years and is much respected by the parents and the children. I believe there has to be a formal process, advertisements etc to appoint a head but most parents hope that Mr Button will continue in the role on a permanent basis.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. It's much appreciated and very useful.

Hi everyone - we know this is an old thread, but still seems to be proving useful so we're going to pop it over to a more appropriate topic.
