Does your school organise anything special for Christmas - outings etc?

I just wondered what the norm is as our school doesnt take any children out for theatre trip, caves or anything slightly special.

Nice school, with PTA funding available surely they could make some effort to organise something special for the juniors?

Visit from Santa with gift

We have a week of Christmas - panto (parents pay), Xmas lunch, Xmas play (x 3) over the day, Xmas party with outside entertainers and Santas visit and Xmas raffle drawn. It is a lovely week - the children are so tired after a 15 week term! X

Well, lots of things, but not an organised trip out, that seems unnecessary.
Nativity for reception only
Carols in church for everyone else
Christmas lunch
Christmas Shop (buy and wrap gifts for parents)
Disco in the evening
'Party' in class
This gives them lots of things but doesn't take up very much curriculum time apart from the Nativity which takes forever

Infants have:
Christmas performance (2 performances per year group)
Carol service at local church
Christmas party in school
Postbox for Christmas cards
PTA after school Christmas disco
PTA Christmas fair (with Father Christmas)

Juniors have:
Christmas assembly performance (1 per year group)
Panto comes into school (PTA pays)
Some forms (depends on teacher) do Christmas party in school, but fairly low key.
Postbox for Christmas cards
Christmas music concert (evening, for those who do any music clubs, which is about 1/3 of the school)
Sometimes PTA Christmas fair (roughly every other year)

I've just had the newsletter so I can now add that the infants are taking turns to bring home a traveling crib

the juniors are being given a prayer buddy that they are going to pray for during advent and give a gift to at the end of term

ours have a christmas fayre to help subsidise the trip to see a panto and have a christmas party. They also have a christmas lunch.

DDs have a party and a magician coming in for the infants, juniours are off to a pantomime.

DSs school are having a christmas dinner then each teacher does an activity so the children can pick and choose, usually a few different cooking, music, films, craft, board games and sports based activities to choose from

Both schools also have Christmas plays, Christmas fair, Carol service, class parties and Father Christmas visiting each class.

A panto comes to the school and there is a Christmas party for the infants. Fortunately this year this is no nativity to attend - hurrah!

Oh, and a Christmas lunch and a disco for the older ones.

They have a theatre group come in and do a production in the last couple of weeks. - I like this as they get the drama bit but no worries with coach trips etc with nasty weather, busier roads etc. And if families want to do take them to a panto it won't duplicate/clash.

And all the fun of the Christmas fair!

Think the PTA pay for the theatre group.

My lads school does loads.
Three separate concerts fs1-y1, y2-4 & y5&6 (two different showings of each)
Christmas Dinner,
A party in various year groups.
Father Christmas usually drops in.
And they had reindeer visit this week.
They are going to the panto/ Nutcracker (depending on age) after Xmas.
