Phonics/numeracy IPhone app recommendations?

Ds1 (reception) is suddenly enthusiastic about phonics and numeracy and is keen to do more. We have various things in the next few weeks where he'll be waiting around so I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of good iPhone apps of phonic or numeracy games?

TIA

Buy some books!!! You can work through the books together. Much more fun and you can be part of the learning. Using an app is not a substitute in my opinion.

There is an alphablocks game in the cbeebies app which DS loves.

North - the two don't need to be mutually exclusive, both can help support learning and you can work through apps/games together aswell.

North - we already have loads of books thank you Hmm - the app would be additional because he finds them fun to do and they can be educational. Also it's quite useful as he can do it by himself when I need to be doing other things or he can look at it in the car.

Sirzy - I'll have a look at that one thanks.

Any other suggestions? Most of the ones in the apple store don't seem to have reviews so hard to know what they're actually like.

We've got the pocket phonics there is a lite version to try for free first, my daughter likes it. I also bought a bbc phonics book with DVD, it also came with a poster which I have found most useful.

Check out Mr Thorne does phonics and others in his range. They aren't free apps but very reasonable (69p - £2.99) and in line with the current curriculum and method of teaching phonics. He regularly does offers on his FB page too!
