Hi

I am just looking to buy some more boarding/educational games.
I did really liking playing those and Dd never had many, but now I am getting into it and want to buy more and more.

Recommendations please?

My 3yo and 6yo have just discovered connect 4, they think it's fab! They also love all the Orchard Toys games- red dog blue dog, shopping list, spotty dogs etc.

Shut The Box is a great maths game that my 6yo loves, and the 3yo can kind of take part, with help.

My nephew (now aged 30!), was assessed with dyslexia at 16. Prior to that, he had lots of assessments. I do remember one therapist at primary school specifically recommending Guess Who.

Dominoes.

Snap. As well as ordinary snap, you used to be able to get sums, tables, capital cities and spelling snaps at ELC. Don't know if they still do them.

Junior scrabble for the 6 year old.

Print dotty paper off the internet and play boxes - lots to think about, counting sides, planning ahead etc. I love a good game of boxes...

My three year old likes Ladybirds and also The House That Jack Built, and 7yo joins in too. There is a junior monopoly - the original one with the fairground is great, but have heard some of the more recent versions are not so good. Lego game called Shave The Sheep. Guess Who is Great, but the new version is completely flimsy and painful to use - look out for the proper old version at car boots etc. And that 1980's pacman game is great if you ever see it - I take out the ghosts when playing with 3yo to make it simpler. I am currently looking out for a proper (read 1980s) version of Downfall.

Simple card games with a normal deck - snap, happy families, rummy, pelmanism, strip jack naked (a sort of simple uno game - not a drinking game!), two player patience.

Those orchard games bore me witless - once you've played a few of them, you've played them all!

Mine have enjoyed very silly sentences. Have bought a few daft games for Xmas but also thought about junior scrabble or something. Trouble is they'd rather play on the iPad than a proper board game!

Yes, shopping trolley one too.
