Does going to DUCKS/DPL confer an advantage for the 4+ assessment?

Hello, I am new to mumsnet so apologies if this has been covered before (I did do a search of topics).

My daughter is 2 and we are considering JAPS or Alleyn's for pre-prep starting Sept 2015. Our daughter goes to a run-of-the-mill daycare nursery locally. It is a loving, caring nursery but I don't think they have much experience or expertise in preparing children for the 4+ assessment.

JAPS & Alleyn's are hugely oversubscribed and my concern is that majority of the places may be offered to girls who have attended DUCKS or Dulwich Prep London. Really, what I want is to gauge our chances and manage our expectations. Do a large cohort of girls entering pre-prep at JAGS & Alleyn's come from DUCKS/DPL-type nurseries, as they are better at preparing the girls for their assessments?

Thanks!

No experience in S London, but in N London, going to a preschool rather than a nursery is pretty essential.

dd got into AJS from a nursery of the "we was", "broccolli", and bored teenaged carers ilk. I didn't have time to tutor her in any way - I work 8:30-5:30, but I think she was alright because she's a confident kid.
Don't think S London is half as bad as north.

Kinda wishing we'd gone for JAPS now though, Alleyn's is a bit yah. :(

Thanks both for your replies.

AwesomeWellies, I was hoping that was the case in South London! I have a friend who lives in North London who's son went to a nursery that preps the kids for such assessments (pre-pre-prep nursery, if you like) and that made me panic slightly and wonder whether my daughter stood a chance.

My daughter is articulate and bright (we all think that of our own!) but she is quite shy in new situations so that's my concern but that's her personality and it can't be changed. I'm pretty level-headed but have surprised myself at how easy it is to get carried away with the whole assessment thing and I am trying not to lose perspective!
