Practical maths activities for KS2 - I need some ideas for ds

Ds is 7 and bright. He generally finds learning easy and steams ahead. I've often wondered if and when he'd 'hit the wall' and start to drop back a little and I think he now has. He loves solving maths problems but, as it now appears, has some difficulty with practical/applied type maths. Since I think you really can't have reached your educational peak by seven and I don't want him to be academically able but practically a bit lost, I'm looking for fun activities I can do with him.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a nice friendly blog or similar, with lots of practical activities to try?

Thanks.

Cooking - it's brilliant for practical maths.

My DTs love playing monopoly and fight over bring the banker. It's great for handling money, working out making change
Those kitchen science kits are good too

Scales, weighing and measuring.
Jugs to measure quantities. Making comparisons between the capacity of thin, tall cylinders / vases and day, shorter ones that hold more water.

Going to the supermarket and working out how much items on 'buy one get one free' would cost if full price, working out change, learning Roman numerals and searching for them on buildings-hours of fun!

Look at the NRICH site nrich.maths.org/primary-upper

don't worry about the hitting the wall for now. he will probably learn something else, then come back to maths at a later time. going sideways with problems sounds a good idea.
