The book doesn't reflect the current National Curriculum it's basically an American curriculum repackaged.

That's the second post on here in a week that's confused Civitas' Core Knowledge UK curriculum with they new NC. If that's what Civitas were aiming for in an attempt to make money off the back of it, they aren't doing a bad job.

The pages form the year 1 book that I've seen are badly written and factually inaccurate so I'd be a bit wary with the year 2 book unless I knew enough to correct the bits that were wrong.

Hi ClayDavis – I work for Core Knowledge UK and would be interested to see what you think is factually wrong in any of our books. We have rigorous procedures for ensuring all content is factually accurate, though of course that does not mean the odd error never slips through. Please do get in touch with any details.

mrz is correct in saying that Core Knowledge does not reflect the current National Curriculum. It is not meant to. However it does contain virtually everything in Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Art and Music that will be in the new National Curriculum for primary schools from September 2014.

And be assured that all of the content is British. While the idea of cultural literacy is inspired by an American, ED Hirsch, the curriculum is written for UK children, with British history, geography, folk tales, songs, poems, artwork the list goes on. I defy anybody to find an American curriculum featuring It’s A Long Way to Tipperary! You can see the content at a glance here: www.coreknowledge.org.uk/sequence.php

Kind regards
Emma

Hi Emma I'm sure you agree that a book that doesn't reflect the English National Curriculum is hardly a good recommendation for a parent asking for that curriculum or useful to a parent wanting to know about the content of the Year 2 curriculum.

should add it doesn't reflect the 2014 curriculum either
