Presume they are Reception aged?

Pretty certain most teachers would cover things like: how well have they settled into school, what their behaviour is like, is there anything they are doing particularly well at or particularly struggling with, whether they are doing roughly what the Early Years Foundation Stage suggests they should.

Right at the end of Reception you get given info on whether your DCs have done against 17 separate criteria, scored as either emerging, expected or exceeded, but I very much doubt they will even mention all that now.

You really shouldn't be told off! But they should be able to tell you if they have any concerns or if your DC are within the normal range for their age.

I'd ask the teacher about the dyslexia issue - no idea, but that's something any good teacher will be happy to talk to you about.

Is there anything you'd like to ask the teacher? There are no "right" or "wrong" questions!

they just seem behind compared to their classmates

and we dont always get time everyday to do phonic work.
I guess that makes me feel guilty

Unless either you or the teacher have major concerns (which TBH, you would probably already have been approached about as schools don't usually like to delay tricky issues until parents evening) then parents evening is likely to be a bit of an anti-climax.

Your children will be fine, they'll be settling in fine etc. etc. and you'll get to look at their workbooks. Then you'll go home a wonder why you had ever worried.

Don't worry about a thing. If the teacher is any good s/he will suggest ways to assist your child's education. Just ask.
