Good workbooks for home. Year 3 child

Hi
MY DS is in year 3. We've had two part time teachers for his class- one who is now off sick and the school are just slotting teachers in to cover. Can anyone recommend some good workbooks for him to do to keep him up to speed? He's happy to do them- I won't force him but we live in 11+ land and lots of kids are coached from year 4 onwards. We're not in a position to do that but I feel at the moment he is at an extra disadvantage by having a stream of teachers..

I did look in WHSmith but the range was daunting. Thanks for any advice on what's good and what's to avoid!

I like the CGP ones- they're what I normally recommend to parents (if they ask)

For year 3, I'd recommend either level 3 or level 4. The expected level for the end of year 3 is a 2a / 3c but if you're hoping to push him then level 3 onwards would be good.

They sell them on their own website and also on Amazon.

Have a look at these ones:

I'd add a vote for schofield and Simms. I really like their mental maths books and the comprehensions are pretty good too

I'd go with CGP but, depending on the level DC was given at end of year 2, either level 2 or 3. Let them get their confidence up first. And as soon as they've done a couple of pages mark it with them and discuss where they went wrong - if you don't it's a waste of time doing it. You might then discover there's something they need to spend more time on and can google for additional resources to help with that concept.

Thanks very much. I will have a look at those. Someone had previously mentioned Bond to me but they look like 11+ workbooks rather than general classroom work ones.
