how do you find a tutor for DC and can anyone recommend TutorHunt

My DC is in Year 4 and has struggled with Maths for some time. The school puts on such a relentlessly positive front that successive teachers refuse to acknowledge this (not teacher bashing just v concerned about DC). DC gets so frustrated that I am unable to help with homework. I therefore want to find a local tutor who can hopefully help and show DC that maths can be fun and help raise self esteem.

We live in rural location and have asked around but no-one else seems to use a tutor, so I've googled and come up with someone nearby via a website called TutorHunt. Was wondering if anyone can recommend them or suggest another website.

And dare I mention the word Kumon?

TIA.

I think Kumon might be to late for year 4. They usually start you from 1+2=3 no matter which year the child is in.

Don't know about Tutorhunt.

I used firsttutor. You need to pay 15 pound I remember, for the website to release the tutor's detail. But before paying, you can do these:

1.put your post code in and search all the tutors available in your area
2.read all the reviews for the tutor from their previous and current tutees.
3.all the tutor's profile.

Do some research and decide which is the best one for your child.

P.S. I later realized that if you google some of the names, you even don't need to pay to get their details from other website!

I'm a tutor on first tutors, UK Tutors and Tutor Hunt and I've used all three for nearly 6 years. First Tutors is the best.

The Tutor Pages is a good site where a lot of tutors advertise and you don't need to pay anything to contact them.

Just to flag for anyone finding this thread, First Tutors has officially closed down. My friend used to be a tutor in that site for about 10 years. He has built a website called ( https://vitaleducators.com )similar to first tutors, free tutors listings, one off finders fee, no commissions on lessons.
Rn we are actively reviewing tutors profiles, so you get the best out of best.
Feel free to check and give any suggestions.
