Last summer my 5yr got burnt numerous times, even through we just all day long sun cream, he is very pale!
The school are not allowed to put sun cream on them, and even through he takes sun cream in with him.
I have being looking into doing something about this, and am taking to sun cream companies about this however I need the proof, if there are any other parents that had the same issue or even if they didn't please could you fill in the questionnaire, it will only take a moment!

I have filled in your survey but am really puzzled by it to be honest.

There are lots of excellent sun creams available that will last all day (and a school day is not that many hours).
The children do not spend that much of the day outside. They are also aware about reducing sun exposure by e.g. staying in the shade. – if yours are spending all day in the blazing sun I would be raising that as an issue rather than the sun cream tbh!
DD has vitiligo so is prone to burning – but she never has.

I don't mean to be rude, but I think you must be doing something wrong. I have 2 very fair, blonde blue eyed children. One is 5 and at school. We live somewhere far nearer the equator than the UK, where it is warm and sunny almost all year, where the UV hits "high" in the middle of the day even in winter, and "extreme" in summer and my children have never burnt. Neither of them have ever had even a hint of pink skin, and they are only marginally browner than when we left the UK.

I am very careful with my little one (in terms of just staying out of the sun) but the school day does have a fair amount of outside time built into it (more than I would like!) including lunch outside and swimming in the early afternoon when the UV is at its highest. We put Boots Soltan 8 Hour Play on the DCs in the morning (before school), and school supervise DS topping it up before swimming (about 2pm) - they wont do it, but they will watch him do it. They were hats (with neck flaps), sunglasses and UV protective shirts in the pool. If its cool enough they wear light trousers and long sleeves instead of shorts and T-shirts. It works fine.

my daughters both have used the stick sunblocks easily on their own, they keep one at school and can easily put it on themselves (I get them to do it when at home at weekends so I can make sure they understand where to put it and how to do it logically to make sure they cover everywhere) so they can do that if it was cloudy in the morning and I don't put any on them before school. If it is really hot and sunny then I will use the 8hr ones on them before we go to school. they are 4 and just turned 6 and been doing this alone since turning 4. We have never had a problem, one in particular is VERY pale.
