Quick one - What are APS?

DS (6) is in Y2 and has had some problems focussing and working independently.

I was called in to discuss how we can help him, with his teacher and the SEN coordinator, which was useful.

But i don't understand the written follow-up report, where it says his Academic Achievement for last term was 12APS and writing was 12APS.

Is this okay, or something to worry about? Any help from wise Mumsnetters would be gratefully received!

It is usually Average Points (measure of progress) but 12 points would equate to 4 years progress Confused

Really? How odd. His reading is much improved but im pretty sure progress hasn't been that meteoric!

Thanks for answering though!

APS is used to measure progress and attainment. National Curriculum levels can equate to points (hence the Average Points)
Have a look at page 2
I would assume your child was working at about a level 1A / 2C if the APS is 12, which at this time of the year in Year 2 means they are on track for at least the "expected" level of a 2B by the end of Year 2.
