Reading level - P1 in Scotland

I was wondering if there's anyone out there who has experience of P1 reading levels in Scotland.

DS1 started P1 this Sept and his class are using the Oxford Reading Tree (Biff & Chip etc) books. He's still on the pink level, but seems to be reading them easily. Is the about where he should be? I have already asked the teacher if he's doing ok and she said he's fine, but I can't help worrying that we should be doing more at home. They are still covering individual letter sounds, so I guess it's the equivalent of reception in England?

sounds about right if he has only just started school. www.readingchest.co.uk/book-bands - tells you the colours and age levels

Sounds right to me. Usually start of confidence boosting and working together in the class. It's not just about reading but also their understanding of the story too.

OK, that's fine then. I just want to make sure we're supporting him at home. We do all the homework etc and the reading books, plus whatever he has read to him at bedtime. Hopefully that's enough.

Thanks for the replies!
