Not happy with DD's school - do I move her?

My dd goes to a south London preprep - which finishes at the end of year 2. DD is currently in year 1. She is young for her age =, born in July. DD has now been moved down to the bottom group with simple spellings despite getting 7/10 in last weeks' unsetted homework. Also as of yesterday she has dropped down a level in reading book. Her reading had I felt been neglected by the school but she had made great progress with me in the holiday. It seems like the school has pigeon holed her into a "we-aren't-going-to-bother-to-encourage-these-to-learn" group and they clearly have no intent on building her up to apply for any of "the" Dulwich schools at 7. She loves the school but I'm tempted to try and move her end yr 1 if I can to avoid the seven plus stress esp if the school doesn't have her earmarked as one of their favourites. however she could easily end up going to the same school (that I am actively considering) at 7 which would give her another year with friends, but possibly seriously dent her confidence. What do I do? Has anyone been in this predicament?

Have you spoken to the teacher? What do they say is happening?

They say she found reading and spelling tricky but was reading well in the evening and doing well at quite hard spelling so it doesn't make sense.

she probably isn't showing them at school how well she CAN read. Perhaps she is more shy with her new teacher whilst she gets used to everything.

7/10 is good but if a lot of the others got 10/10 then they will have had to arrange things so that those children can have harder spellings and she can have ones that she will find a tiny bit easier. This will probably build her confidence too.

Surely they said more than she finds "reading and spelling tricky"?

They only said she found then tricky. But the spellings now she was able to spell a year ago. I have asked fora meeting as It is nonsensical.
