Reading test?

DS1 tells me that instead of doing his usual individual reading of a book with his teacher, he had to read some words and sentences out to his teacher. He gave an example of a sentence- "The robber hid behind a tree but the policeman found him." Or something like that. Does anybody recognise what it is?

Is it a reading age test? Or something else? Is there anywhere I can have a look at this online?

It is the Salford reading test and will give a reading age. It is probably one of many assesment tools that the teacher is using to assess the children. We use this but will also hear children read in Guided reading to assess other reading skills.

Thanks, that's really helpfulSmile. I wanted to have a bit of a nosey about what he'd been doing but seems like there isn't any samples online.

I have a set of them that my mum used to use somewhere. I think if I remember right there are a few different versions, presumably giving a teacher some options for retesting at some point.

It's the new Salford Sentence reading test form A (there are 3 forms) not available to preview on line I'm afraid.
