Second week he fell out with another child, the other child pushed him over and kicked him in the head more than once. I spoke to the school the next day- I was told nothing the day it happened, only knew because my son told me. The school were sorry and have dealt with the situation fairly well but have no explanation for how my son lost a large patch of hair. Is it silly to worry over a bald patch? My son had been quite unsettled by it. Would you demand more answers? Should I just let it go?

You shouldn't let it go at all. Sometimes incidents like this happen away from adult eyes.

This seems like an incredibly aggressive incident (by your son's account).
Taking it to be true; if a grown man had been pushed over in the street and repeatedly kicked in the head and lost a patch of hair - it would be considered bodily harm by law.

You have a right to demand more answers and also to feel safer sending your child to school. Poor kid having to walk round with a bald patch.

As a protective mother; I would approach the school again. Thank them for what they have done so far but suggest that you would like to know how your son got a bald patch during school time.

Personally I would probably think about following it up with some sort of letter. Not sure what but to make sure it is documented somewhere that some sort of incident took place. That is a pretty serious incident if involved being kicked in the head and a child having enough hair pulled out to have a bald patch.

Thank you for your replies, had an hour long meeting with the school, feel fairly confident it shouldn't happen again but still no clue how it wasn't noticed at the time
