Anyone else waiting for waiting list processes reception?

We are 'in top 5' on a waiting list for a preferred school for DS, (and on 2 other waiting lists) he has started reception in the allocated primary and it's not good so far.
So it's still a waiting game for us. Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Similar in that nearest school has us near the top of the wait list, but the school he's at is a trek, but lovely, and best friend is in his class.
I'm getting fit from all the walking. And it has its own field. Distance is the only thing I have against it.

So will be very conflicted if we get offered a place round the corner.

Difficult one.
DS is at a primary that is only a 3 on ofstead for most things. And so far it has been disorganised and chaotic in reception.
So we'll be jumping at the chance if we get a place after Friday!

I did late registration for reception class. and now my son's name is on waiting list and i really dont know how long it will be. how do you know you are on top 5 in the waiting list. i didnt get any letter from council!

I keep ringing them up. They wouldn't give me any info to start with.

I'm in the same boat as NotCitrus but we are 6th for first choice, a 90 intake, so I thought we had a good chance of getting in. The waiting list hasn't moved at ALL since we found out our position in May.
However we were offered another school from our list that, like NotCitrus is lovely but a distance. Hmmm.

Hmmm not sure on this one. DS is at a school that seems lovely but it's a long long walk. We're fairly near the top of waiting lists for closer schools and I'm really not sure what we'd do if we got a nearer place now. Watch this space!!

FrameyMcFrame · 12/09/2013 21:16

I will watch this space...!
It's so hard to think about moving them but if it is for a much better school then the benefits outweigh the risks, at this age would they even really remember it?
I moved DD's school in year 5 and I thought I had made a mistake as it took her a long time to make new friends but 3 years on I am so glad I did. Her academic work, especially Maths has improved so much. She is now at a school where the staff are determined to get the best out of each and every child and help them show their potential rather than her previous school where they were content to watch children bump along the bottom.
It is such a difficult decision though.

I also did late application for reception class. My flat is in nothinghill gate. it is very close to a famous primary school. My dd is on the waiting list for that school. My dd was placed in a community primary school in draycott avenue(chealsea). Now I am really very happy with that school. Her class teacher is excellent. She is perfect. Outstanding schools might not be good every time. It depends on the class teachers
