What to do with scratchy embroidered logo on polo shirts?

The logo is so scratchy that my child is in pain. I ironed over it this morning but it did not help. I wonder whether there is iron-on material to cover this logo. Unfortunately the children have to wear school uniform with logo.
Many thanks for any suggestions.

A vest? Or sew a little patch onto the back of it.

iheartdusty · 03/09/2013 17:07

yes, DS always wore a vest for this reason.

Iron on cotton patch ...even better if you sew a thin cotton one on the back.

iron on interfacing ?

Thank you. Vest is probably too hot in this weather but would be all right later on. I have to sew on something then for tomorrow.

Just found it. Cloud cover www.terradonembroidery.com/store/pid-14/cloud_cover.html

dd2 ended up with sore red nipple on one side because of logo after practising running for Sports Day! She was rather pleased with herself for having 'jogger's nipple' Grin

I sewed patches on the back. Iron on would be great.

Elibean, I bought 1 meter of fusible backing gauze for embroidery on ebay for approx £4.00 incl delivery. Later my child will try it on and check the material for softness. I would not say it is that soft but it might work.

It softens with washing. I used to do this with baby outfits that had some sort of scratchy embroidery on the front.

Mathanxiety, thanks. Both kids tried the polos with the backing material and did not complain. I just hope it will stay there after washings. What makes me angry that many parents do not have a choice but just buy this ridiculously expensive school uniform with logo and it comes without backing material.

You feel like such a sitting duck when you're forced to buy something inferior, especially something for your children.

My dd wears a vest all year round in a hot country, sometimes its over 40 but she still insists on wearing them because of the scatchyness

Savoy, you need to buy the backing material as it really does the job. I would only send my kids with a vest under the t-shirt when it is nearly cold. It is very warm in the classrooms and the kids sweat a lot. You will find that many children bring their bottles back home nearly untouched. No-one reminds them to have a drink and imagine when it is very hot. So, I am really glad to have found this material. It is also easy to apply. I got 1 meter and it is more than enough. I did have to clean the embroidery from the white material though. The backing sticks better then.
