I'm looking for some books to add to our shelves as ds moves into yr 3 - we rely on google too much and don't make the library every week
We have body books but nothing really on animals and history and an atlas that is probably a little out of date

I bought DS a good British history encyclopaedia today from WHSmiths, it was £5. He s enjoying it (but he is a history geek!).

The wow! Books are good, dd has wow! Everything and we've had the human body and space ones from the library too.

For an atlas I like the Barefoot Books world atlas.

Nothing wrong with Google if you choose the results carefully.

Any books from Dorling Kindersley are superb. I've picked up many for my DCs and my class from 2nd hand shops or library cast offs.

Usborn do lots of good stuff too - their 'internet-linked' range are good for reading then looking up more stuff online. Again, I've found them in charity shops and in sales.

I once found a shelf of superb non-fiction books in a charity shop - they all had the same name written in the front. Turns out it was a teacher having a clear out and there was another shelf-full the next day, so I got them to have a look in the store room for the rest :-)
