We are considering NP as a school for our daughter but have heard mixed reviews. If we sent her to this school, it would mean a 45 minute commute each way so we really feel that the schooling has to be of the best standard. We are particularly concerned that a lot of the hype about the education provided (not the facilities but purely the adacemic teaching) is just marketing. Can anyone tell me more about the teaching standards? I know they get kids into some good senior schools but is this due to the teaching or because the average child there is naturally much above average? Please advise if you can as we are v confused as to what to do and we have 2 weeks left!
Thanks vm

I only know about the school vaguely through friends who use it.

But 45 minutes each way will be a gruelling school run.

Do you have any private schools closer by? Maybe see on here if they are good.

I have friends who took their two DC out of Newton Prep after 2 years because they were disappointed with the standard of teaching. They moved to good state schools in our borough and, although the children themselves are bright, they found they had some catching up to do to get to the standard of the "top table" kids.
However, I'm sure others will be along who rave about the school so I'm not sure how helpful my (or anyone else's) anecdotal evidence is to you. It doesn't sound to me as if you loved the school...and 45 mins commute for a school you don't love seems long.

It has been amazing school for my DS and DD - the teaching and learning is the best thing about it. However, it does NOT spoon feed the children - it suits a more sparky child, who wants to find out more about the world around him/her.

Do you mean 45 minutes each way? That's a lot to ask of the school run parent, especially if you remember that you will also have 15 mins extra for taking your Reception child into school, hanging up coat etc. We travel from Putney Bridge - about 20/25 mins each way.

It is a great, really special school, But I'm not sure that I could bear to spend an hour and 45 mins in the car every day.
