That's it really. Best one that washes and wears reasonably well and cheaper then the exorbitant school logo'd ones that don't each or wear well!

Vertbaudet.

mineswine · 09/08/2013 00:02

Sainsburys

Nicknamegrief · 09/08/2013 00:03

M&S.

Graceparkhill · 09/08/2013 00:07

John Lewis

DevaDiva · 09/08/2013 00:28

I'm giving Morrisons a whirl this year, branded Nutmeg and look good quality Smile

mimbleandlittlemy · 09/08/2013 13:39

My worst ever shrinking experience was with M&S. Next always very good, don't shrink and stay looking reasonable.

crumpledinside · 09/08/2013 17:00

Trutex have lasted 4 years of wear and still look good.

pigsinmud · 10/08/2013 15:12

I've tried a few over the years. Thankfully dc4 will be a year 3 next year and we need shirts not pools. Hurrah!
M&S were appalling. Also tried Asda, Tesco, BHS and I'm sure there were more.

Next were the best imo, which is odd as I find a lot their clothes shrink!!

pigsinmud · 10/08/2013 15:12

Obviously meant to read polos not pools.

DameFanny · 10/08/2013 15:14

John Lewis for me, thick enough the plackets don't need ironing for the buttons to line up.

littlemissnormal · 10/08/2013 15:21

M&S and Sainsburys

Pyrrah · 10/08/2013 23:36

Sainsbury's - cheap, wash well and feel nice. Fit nicely and if you have a DD then they have diamante on the pockets!

M&S come out of the wash feeling like cardboard and as the material is on the thick side, it's hard for little fingers to do the buttons up.

Whichever brand you get, keep one to the side for school photo day/other smart occasions.

Ineedmorepatience · 11/08/2013 10:07

We have Asda, dead cheap so throw away the ones that get covered in spag bol or paint. We always size up.

Sainsburys were lovely a few years ago but they changed them. They only go up to 12.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 11/08/2013 13:56

I hated M & S. However I washed them they came out cardboardy. I liked the Debenhams ones best.

num3onway · 11/08/2013 14:03

I get a size bigger to allow for shrinkage
Trying out tesco this year, some f&f and some 75p value
Just looking at them I can't see much difference tbh

MilkRunningOutAgain · 11/08/2013 15:55

Another 1 for John Lewis.

Pancakeflipper · 11/08/2013 15:58

John Lewis - seemed to be softer than other brands after an academic years of wear and washing.
M&S ok. But feel rough after a lot of washing.
Found Sainsburys developed holes very quickly but I have a very active child who is usually found up trees in the school grounds so his uniform takes a battering.

Sparklingbrook · 11/08/2013 16:04

I noticed M&S ones went like cardboard Pancake and Ellen. Thought it was me. Smile

I am going to try John Lewis next.

Pancakeflipper · 11/08/2013 16:07

Sparkling - I did find with JL that I had to use laundry stuff to whiten them as they did go a little dull. But deffo were the softer ones.

Smooches · 13/08/2013 18:20

NEXT or M&S

MuddlingMackem · 14/08/2013 13:12

We've always gone with Asda, they work well for us.

SunnyRandall · 14/08/2013 13:19

Sainsburys stayed true to size the best after copious washing at 60ºc and tumble drying.

Debenhams were horrible. Hard and non-stretchy.

Asda and Tesco fine but I find need replacing more often due to shrinkage.
