DD is summer born, so not yet 7 but has finished y2. She struggled a bit with reading in Y1, but by Spring term of Y2 she was doing much better. I would still have guessed she was in the low-to-average reading band compared to rest of class. She has gone through a few phases of doing a bit of reading for pleasure, but apparently doesn't like reading , its boring! She does spend a lot of time writing random notes to fairies, her friends, and family though!
She had her end of year report which she was scored in the middle range - all 5s i think iirc - (about 20% of class received a lower score, and 40% a higher score). I thought this was OK especially as she is 11m younger than some of her classmates.
Then on the last day of term we finally had her national test results back. She is working at just very slightly above her age at numeracy, but at three years above her age for literacy. To say I was shocked doesn't cover it.
I haven't been able to speak to her teachers as it was end of term. Sorry to sound like a stealth boaster, but I am genuinely befuddled . Has anyone else had experience of such a turnaround? I know it sounds horrible to say it but I'm torn between worrying we've got the wrong results! and feeling bad that I hadn't realised her improvement!!!
