Polo shirts which don't need ironing

white basic polo shirts - I have tried so many over the years. Even those that say 'no ironing needed' do actually crease and need ironing even if hung on a hanger straight from the machine.

Has anyone found any which really don't need ironing?

Thanks!

It probably depends on your standards Grin - I never iron polo shirts, just hang straight onto a hanger - good enough for school surely?

er - I've never ironed any of my dc's polo shirts (not mine nor dh's come to that).
School ones have always been cheap ones from the supermarket. Never needed ironing.

I used to iron but now I don't. Usually dd puts a jumper over hers, then you can only see the collar. The creases drop out anyway. I teach Textile Science. One of the properties of kitted garments is they shed creases easily

I don't iron.

MrsRichards · 02/08/2013 15:42

oh. Is it just me then? I bought some basics Tesco ones at the end of term and despite treating carefully they absolutely needed ironing. I also have some M&S ones and they too would not pass without ironing.

I am obviously going wrong somewhere!

Mine wouldn't really pass without ironing, but I don't care. However as I said, the creases fall out after about 20 mims wear

you probably just have much higher standards which isn't a bad thing at all.

I am lazy. well not strictly true - I am scared of ironing with the preschooler around and don't really get much opportunity when she isn't so ironing tends to become essential items only. otherwise I try and get away with it.

I am lazy. well not strictly true - I am scared of ironing with the preschooler around - I still use that excuse with a 12 year old around Grin. And no, I can't possibly get the iron out whilst he is at school Grin Grin.

I pegged them out on the line tightly. Never ironed during 9 years of junior school.
Sadly now secondary shirts are cotton so NEED ironing

FreakoidOrganisoid · 02/08/2013 17:22

I had some from sainsburys that didnt need ironing last year. Tescos were the worst for needing it.

Magnificunt · 02/08/2013 17:30

I had some from BHS that didn't need ironing, they were in a pack of 3 or 4 for about a fiver I think. They washed really well and felt much softer than the cheaper ones from supermarkets. This was about 2 years ago so not sure if they still stock them.

MrsRichards · 02/08/2013 19:03

thanks for the tips everyone - and loving the ironing excuses!

MrsR, I feel your pain - dd1 is finally agreeing to wear polo shirts (she had a button phobia from tot-age, and has lived in t-shirts until Y4) and the M&S ones definitely need ironing unless I put them in the dryer, whip them out and fold them perfectly. Not my strong point Blush

I shall be scouring Sainsbury's and BHS....

MrsRichards · 04/08/2013 21:01

I bought 2 in John Lewis today for £7 which look and feel like they won't need ironing, but will report back....!

I would say it's more likely your washing machine! A cotton wash with high spin will need ironing.
Check and use a synthetic cycle with lower spin speed.

Don't think they exist! I always iron... You can spot the kids with tops not ironed a mile off and its not a good look IMO. They just look scruffy! It only takes a second to give a quick once over and kids look much smarter for it!
