When I was in infant school back in the dark ages we used to have writing paper in exercise books that was half lined (with wide lines) with the other half at the top left blank, so that you could write a story and draw a picture.

Ds is really getting into writing simple stories and illustrating them, but he really does need lined paper or his writing is all over the place - hopefully year 1 will sort this out. Anyway my question is, does this paper still exist and if so where can I get the books? I love it that he wants to write but I'm getting fed up of having random scraps of paper over the kitchen!

They will be from gls or consortium but you might have to buy 25. What about staples, whsmith, etc?

There's a website called twinkl where you can download and print paper like that and you can often choose a themed border too.

my mum gave us some of these, one lot say they are from WHSmiths and the others I think she found in The Works or some other such bargain book shop.

You could get a blank jotter and draw lines on the bottom half of each page.

Would take a few moments but wouldn't be hard to do. Probably cheap too.

Watching with interest - I've been looking for these in all kinds of stationers for several years now.

Instead, I've been using French ones, which have alternate plain and lined pages (cahier travaux pratiques).

Thanks I've had a look in staples, Smith's and Wilkinsons so far and they don't seem to stock them here. May have to resort to drawing lines myself. Although at the rate he writes 25 may not be a bad idea. Will have a Google thank you.

Larger WHSmiths definitely stock them. I buy them for DD2 for holiday diaries. I can't get them in our small town, but have to go to big town nearby.

I just ordered some directly from Rhino - the project book was best (wide lines but plenty of them, nice big space at the top). Look for TB (top blank) and 15F (I think) F stands for faint. Cheaper than Amazon too but only in a pack of 10.

ELC used to have them, as did Rymans at one point. Dd1 loved them.

Where are you? I've got about 150 in my classroom that I don't want...

Galt Big Block. Exactly what you describe, a pad of paper which has the top two-thirds blank for a picture and the bottom third with lines for writing. My DD has used for last 2 years to draw picture and write a short story.

I get these in the Range. Called story paper or something

i bought A4 pad half lined from Sainsburys of all places but if you have access to a printer you can print your own
