Ds missed a lot of school between yrs 1 and 5 due to the perverse approach to SN...blah...blah....he's ASD and it took a while to get his education sorted out. Thanks to his wonderful teacher and school he achieved a Level 3 in English and Maths. He sat the SATS, he did it, he got a result. Very, very proud of him. He is not learning disabled and is capable of great things, this is a little thing, but just want to let you know.

That's fabulous. Well done to him!

Thanks Flo, he thought he hadn't done well and I said "son, you are comparing yourself to children that have always been at school, that haven't had to put up with what you have had to...exams aren't everything but you've shown that you can do that, do the testing whatever they're testing, well done you."

yay, that's brilliant :)

Well thank you Little Miss, and I admit to roguishly bumping this, because I'm sure there are DCs out there without SN who got Level 3 on something in these SAT things (and I say this as someone who is pretty darn good at passing exams herself) and really it's not important in the great scheme of things. But so many seem so concerned about it. Soon, most of those worried about the sublevels that 'Ariadne',etc are achieving will be posting about "Why can't I control my teen?" or whatever. Still proud of ds and his result though.

Well done to your ds Grin as the mum of two with autism I know just how much effort he has had to make in order to even sit the tests and a pat on the back for his teacher who will have gone the extra mile for him too and of course to you who got him to that point as well.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 18/07/2013 07:13

Well done to your DS. Smile

Well done! When just sitting the test at all is an achievement, getting two level 3s is even better!

Floggingmolly · 18/07/2013 11:53

Well done, Littlefloat Smile

Very well done! I have a boy with ASD in my class who achieved level three in maths and reading too! I couldn't be prouder as he's scored N on almost all tests during the year and I was quite quite vocal about not entering him for the tests. He was SO proud of himself though. It's nice to see a post like yours. I had children in tears because they had scored level fours. Sad Angry
