Stanley road has a, completely undeserved in my opinion, iffy local reputation. Partly, this is historic (according to a friend who was there in 1970/80s) also partly I think due to fact it is "multicultural". In fact, it has a nice balance of children from a variety of backgrounds and whilst the EAL is high for the local area it would not be considered so elsewhere.
The school is growing in popularity and a lot of local teachers choose it.
People seem to think it is not academic, but my DC who attends has been stretched academically and socially. She started not able to read and now reads chapter books; count in 2,3,5,10s; tell the time etc. She has had a fantastic time making films, sculptures, plays...
The building is scruffy and cramped but they are extending into the sure start center next year to accommodate the increase in PAN to 60 from 2014 (next year is 45, but 2012 was a bulge of 60).
It was not my first choice school for my DC, but we were v lucky to get a place as it was a high demand year. I am very happy with it. If you live nearby do look around before you dismiss it or consider driving miles as it is a good school with dedicated teachers.
My DC is just coming to the end of reception yr btw so my experience is limited to that.
Whatever you decide Worcester is lovely and you will enjoy it!
