Any recommendations? Or cautionary tales? Moving to Earlsfield in August.

I think both are very good but quite different so you should just have a look round. Historically Beatrix Potter has a better reputation and is more sought after. It is less socially diverse I'd say and attracts quite a few families who would have gone private if they hadn't got in there. I know it better and it has a lovely feel to it with brilliant staff. Although it is heading towards being the same size as Earlsfield (changed to 2 form entry a few years ago) it has a smaller feel to it.

Earlsfield has come up a lot in recent years and seems to have a real energy about it. People i know there are very happy. Intake is more diverse but it is becoming increasingly popular and the catchment is now quite limited distance from the school. Catchment for BP is really more Wandsworth common than Earlsfield. - check out the Priority Catchment on the wandsworth council website.

If you genuinely have the choice of either, most people I know would go for Beatrix Potter although I've heard of a few people lately that have 'chosen' Earlsfield.
Basically I think both are really good options but both have very limited catchment areas so bear that in mind. PM me if you've got any specific questions.

Beatrix Potter has an incredibly small and very defined catchment area. I have heard concerns about its SEN provision, but that is third hand so I don't know how true. I have only heard positives other than that. It's defined catchment means it is very middle class, very white, very aspirational. If that's your thing then I am sure it is very good.

Earlsfield P more diverse but still very sought after these days. Increasingly small catchment - you need to be sure you're well within current boundaries to be sure of getting in as I imagine it will get ever smaller. I have never heard a bad word said of it. No personal experience though I'm afraid. I've heard good things about the head.

I think we would be outside Beatrix potters priority area, which is a shame as it looks like DS would enjoy the after school activities, but I'm not middle class, so wouldn't want for DS to feel put of place iykwim.

Think we would be in earlsfied primary catchment (magdalain road/ Swaby road) and DSs current school is very diverse and feel DS has benefited from this, will go and visit both, am increasingly worried about lack of places for the DCs upon moving.

Thanks for your help ladies Smile

I have no idea, but Beatrix Potter is such a lovely name for a school! Smile
