How much, if any, holiday homework do your DCs get?

Following on from another thread, I've only just realised that not every school gives out holiday homework.

DD has been getting it since Y2 to Y3. This year, Y4 to Y5, it seems to have stepped up a gear.

Other MNetters have pointed out that their DCs don't get any at all.

Do yours, just out of interest?

Another London Prep here. DS1 is just finishing Yr5. They have been encouraged to read a wide range of fiction and that's it. No formal homework.

No not even my year nine

None here, thankfully.

None during the summer holiday here, but during half term and Easter they normally get a topic related project (usually making something. DS was doing under the sea so made an aquarium, other DS was doing Egypt so made pyramids out of sugar cubes)

I know what they will be learning about next term so will base some of our trips round them, museums and castles, that sort of thing. Plus they can do some reading about it. They are also going to do their Book Reader badge for Cubs over the holidays so I can include the Library Reading Challenge in that, which they loved doing last year, and they can read some fact books about their topics next term.

My DS is in Y3 and doesn't get any holiday homework - I'm really happy about that! I hope it continues in Y4.

Dd is moving from one selective London prep to a non selective country prep, between yr and y1. Both schools have suggested they children read whatever they like but do at least some, thAt we play some fun maths games (number bond snap etc) and that they keep a holiday diary. London school suggested writing in this a few times a week, country prep has not specified but suggested could be a formal diary, photos on a DVD, PowerPoint (???) etc.

my dd will be doing a scrapbook/diary thing as she did this at Easter and loved it. Bit scared other kids are going to come back with some multimedia extravagaza and my dd will have postcards, dried flowers and a few photos with some creatively spelled sentences in a few places, but there you go.
