Guilt!

I am feeling a little disappointed with myself. Having given lots of time to supporting older PFB DS, I am now faced with 3rd DS (just aged 5) not doing quite as well as he should be. He is young in his year but quite whizzy mentally and above average for reading. However his report highlighted lower then average maths and writing. I've been concentrating so much on my older boys that my 5 year old hadn't had enough of my time. I was considering getting some work books over the summer to help him. I think he would enjoy that. Any recommendations for key stage one work books in maths or English? I thought it might be helpful if I knew what he should be doing by the end of year one but don't know how to access the curriculum.

ok can't help but don't feel guilty. We can only do what we can do. I am the same, my eldest had so much more help and input before starting school than I have been able to give my youngest.

It's really hard not to feel guilty and I keep trying to remind myself that DS must get a lot out if having older siblings.

me too! I look back at the efforts I made with DD1 and helping her with her reading (plus getting her to do it almost daily) and DD2 is keen but it is much more sporadic by the time I have had the 'discussion' with DD1 about whatever it is she HAS to do for school or her reading or whatever.

It is completely normal though - we aren't superhuman are we.

Glad to know I'm not on my own.
