EYFS Profile questions

I've just received DS' EYFS profile - we've been really happy with his progress all year, been told he's very bright with a reading age of 8. He seems to have made great progress, has been put into an advanced Y1 group for literacy every day and at the parents' evening in Feb we were told he was working at 2b level for reading and writing. He is however, quite shy with his peers and self-contained (which we're working on, and again his teacher was pleased with his progress - and he's perfectly happy and well behaved).

His EYFS has him exceeding expectations in 8 of the 17 categories. However, am I right to think that because he is marked as emerging in making relationships, he hasn't attained a GLD? If so, this seems completely mad! Is his teacher really going to have this held against her in her stats despite the fantastic progress that he's made academically?

(he's also got emerging in the expressive arts and design (takes after his mother there...), but that's not counted for GLD purposes is it?)

At the end of the day, we know he's doing well and is happy and that's all that matters but I am baffled by the system and feel very sorry for DS' teacher who is ace, but must be losing sleep over all this.

Also - one further query - in one category he's marked as expected level, but it then goes on to say "what we are working towards". Can this be right or is it likely that the "expected" is a misprint and it should be emerging?

GLD is based on achieving expected in the prime areas of personal, social and emotional development, physical development, and communication and language, and in the specific areas of maths and literacy.
