Schools in Richmond / Kew area

Hi all

We are considering a move to Richmond / Kew in a couple of years time. If you know anything about schools there, please could you give me your thoughts? I've done loads of research on schools in north London but feel a bit clueless round there.

Thanks!

Plenty of good primary schools in Richmond borough - my sister's kids went to East Sheen primary but there are lots more good ones ...

Hi, every school around Richmond and Kew is a good school - there are genuinely no really bad ones. They are different in feel so I would highly recommend looking round before you try to make a choice. How old are your children? Be aware that there are 'black holes' for school admissions, particularly when applying for Reception, so look at the info on the council website about distances etc before you choose a house. Classes in older years tend to have leavers as there are lots of international families near here who are only around for a few years so places do come up.

DS is going to be 2 in September and I'm due to have another baby in September / October.

Really great state primary schools around here but very small "furthest distances". Think 300 metres. Do not believe estate agents when they tell you a house is in catchment for a certain school. The distances are shrinking. But Richmond council publish detailed information about each school, first preference applications and distances offered, so I suggest you use this as your reference. As others have said, all the schools are excellent but all have something slightly different to offer so visiting is critical to see which school might suit your DC. And then you'll need to move as close to your preferred school as you can.
