Hello, just had dd's report. She is in Year 3 and her levels are 4C+-4B across all subjects. The information with report states expected level at year 6 is 4 preferably B. Should I be concerned....is it quite standard to get the levels she has in Y3? I'm not a pushy mother but just want to ensure she reaches her potential and wondered if school should be doing anything specific to assist.
Many thanks

Of course there's a chance that you misread the report and it said that on average they were aiming for l4b at the end, while individuallyvthey ought to be aiming for l6 for your child based on that data. We supply info with the report about average levels as some parents are interested in that sort of thing and it prevents unnecessary appointments.

Those who speak of "stealth boasts" are boasting as well. "You've not had it as hard as I have." It's unnecessary.

Are parents of gifted children not allowed to participate and ask questions or seek advice?

Thanks Spink Wink I didn't post it on the G&T board as I knew I would be told that her levels were average and ordinary! Post on here and I am boasting. Can't win. Glad I have got some good explanations and advice and feel less concerned.

It's above average but it's not necessarily G & T, that's the thing.
It depends on the school really, there are plenty of highly academic schools where this would be well within normal range.
She's doing well, but your worry about her doing GCSE's early may be a little previous.

OP I think what you're suffering from here is lack of communication from the school. It sounds like they are doing the right thing by your daughter and that she is getting the differentiation that she needs but they haven't talked you through this. I'd ask to speak to her teacher to get a clearer understanding. Even the best teachers sometimes forget that the children they teach have these things called parents :)

OP as a parent with a child who has SN, I did NOT read your post as "boasting" in any way. You had a question and you asked it, and fwiw I would be asking the same kind of things in that situation.
My DS is in Y5 and achieving around the age of Y2/3 levels. The school differentiates for him but if he was achieving around L7/8 then I would equally expect them to differentiate for his needs. It's not stealth boasting to ask if there is anything you should be doing or asking.
