Want to give a present to my reception childs teachers etc but this year it's not that simple

Unlike when ds1 was in reception there's simply too many of them! There's the lovely teacher he had until Feb half term when she left to have her baby. She helped him settle in with no tears made him excited to come to school each made school seem like the most exciting place ever and made everything he learnt seem so exciting. He still misses her and talks about her a great deal. He regularly asks when's she coming back.
Then there's the job share teacher he's had since she left who is also very kind and lovely. ( I wont however go into the teacher who didn't last long or the string of supply teachers he had after that) Last but definitely not least is the other part time job share teacher he's had for the last couple of months. She is lovely as well. DS2 loves her which says it all!
Then there's the teaching assistants (three permanent andoothers as required) who have provided consistantcy throughout all the upheaval. I don't normally buy for them thoughts but this is not exactly a normal year!
So what do I do. I like to buy them something. I know ds2 wants to bid for his teacher. But who and what regarding ds1? As usual money is tight. Story of my life at the moment!

Box of chocolates/biscuits to share?

mummytime · 02/07/2013 12:31

I would say a box of chocolates, and if possible get your reception child to write a note/draw a picture for each of them (or one and photo copy it). Something from the child will mean the most.

I would get him to make something for them - my daughters have drawn pictures of their teachers on little 7x5 or 6x4 canvases. at Christmas we had 3 members of staff at school for 1 child and 7 at preschool for the other!!!

Thanks for your suggestions. I was thinking of also maybe buying something for his first teacher. I could easily pass it on as she is a friend of a friend iyswim.

in this situation, they all get a box of chocolates that only cost a pound each. 3 tas, 2 class teachers, 2 ppa time teachers, and the office staff to keep sweet.

Hi chocoholic05:

We had a similar situation with job share for both teachers & TAs & TAs rotated partway through year. Money was also very tight that year but we had lots of paint (from decorating). Our solution was to find 6 great rounded stones & we had DD1 paint them to make paperweights.

Some she painted one colour and then carefully wrote out the teacher's name - other's she made designs.

She made homemade cards for each teacher and wrote a little something thanking them for their help at point or another.

It wasn't near as fancy as fancy as some of the presents the children brought in, but we know that the teachers are still using their paperweights - it really makes DD1 happy to see them when she delivers notes or is sent in to ask to borrow something for her current teachers.

First teachers pressie thread of the year (that I've seen anyway).
I'm very excited - summer must be here soon Grin

In your situation OP, I'd either buy a huge tin of chocs for the lot of them, or bake some biscuits/make chcoclates and make a small parcel each.
